    Weft in the nape??

Has anyone on here ever done a row in the nape with 1 row in the crown? I have a client coming in who has hair just at her collar bone. It’s pretty thin mainly up too and her cut is a blunt bob. We’re adding 14 inch hair. Her crown is the thinnest part of her head so I’m only doing one row up too bc I’m afraid the second row Will show if her hair splits or The wind blows. So my question is... how many of you have done a row in the nape? I was thinking to fold the weft in half to break you her blunt bottom layer in the nape and give her extra fullness.

Thank you!! I figured it’d be a little more annoying for sure. I think I might just do 1 row instead....

I just would caution you against doing a horizontal parting in the nape. You need to keep it in a slight horseshoe to follow the roundness of the back of the head to keep even tension during growout. Also, this area can be a little more tender so it often causes discomfort for the client especially as it grows out and starts to pull a little. Also those nape rows can cause some discomfort and matting as they grow out, due to their placement on the neck where it’s always turning and bending. Just things to be aware of if you choose to do it!!

I have done it on two people who were growing out bobs and it helps with breaking up the bluntness. However it always looks more grown out than the other rows and as soon as we could get away from it we did. If you do choose to do it make sure a couple things your beads aren’t too tight (because it is soft skin/more sensitive) and make sure you use as little hair as possible (one weft folded). The best alternative for this is to have them put that hair into a small braid and Bobby pin it to their head or a small bun so you get rid of the short hair peeking out from underneath. Hope this helps.
