What do you ladies charge? When you order hair, do you mark it up for profit? Also what do you charge for initial install, and reinstall. Do you charge per row? And how much? TIA!
Extension Pricing
I charge $200 per row for initial install plus the cost of hair.
*That initial install price includes rooting and toning wefts to blend with natural hair.
14” wefts are $60 each
18” wefts are $80 each
22” wefts are $110 each
Most clients adding major length have 2 rows. Usually 8-11 wefts total divided between the 2 rows.
Clients adding just thickness usually have 1 row with anywhere from 4-6 wefts.
MAINTENANCE
I set the first move up appointment for 7 weeks, then reevaluate from there. Most clients can extend from 8-10 weeks.
Move up price
$150 per row
(Maintenance price is only for moving up extensions and does NOT include color)
I’m in NYC and I charge $200 per weft, including hair and install for 18 inches, $250 per weft for hair and install for 22 inches.
Move ups are $300 for the first row, $175 for each additional
This does not include color
Makes total sense! I charge $200 per weft, for 18” and $250 for 22”. on average I use 8-12 wefts for a full install 😊 I take a 50% deposit and then have them pay the remaining balance that day and then i make a commission off of that😊 I’ve been really lucky with building my clientele so I think it’s good for the area but I of course get people that think it’s insane lmao
This is a really great convo to be having. These prices seem so outrageous to me. I’ve had a completely different method of a braidless weave before and I bought my own hair which was $350 and she charged $50/ row for install. That’s incredibly cheap seeing that all these prices is the norm. It scares me a little to charge $80/ WEFT let alone a whole row. Lol I need some reassurance!
Katerina I’m in a more rural area so I’m doing $150 per row
$60 per 18”
$80 per 22”
and $100 per row for maintenance move ups.
It’s about a 20% markup and people are taking it well. I am in the top end range of my area but that just equals top end clients!
Think some of this is relative to your area. My volume for 1 row 4 wefts is $800 2 rows 5-11 wefts is $1000-1600
3 rows 8-16 wefts $1400-2300 all 20” or less
Move ups $200 1 row $350 2 rows $450 3 rows
(I haven’t had a 3 row clients yet)
I’m just outside DC and in the city a well known girl charges $3000 for 2 rows and a move up with glaze & Blowout for her is $900.
So in my 30mile radius I’m not as expensive🤷🏻♀️
Such a great conversation!
@Mckenzie Turley your weft prices are a tad marked up on that description right?
So far, similar to everyone I’ve been having people buy their hair and then just paying what Mckenzie recommends for each row. But I’d like to up my pricing when I get better at it.
Yes right now, the markup on the most expensive Covet and Mane 18” is $25 per weft.
I absolutely think that you should up your pricing if you feel like your market value can hang with it! I feel like there should be a mark up for us in using this hair because it is an exclusive line that only approved stylists can use.
But no one should feel stuck at my ideas for pricing… We do have to take into consideration where we all live and the going rate for the other extension methods.
Me and Jasmin work in the same salon together and we are both certified and I charge
80$ per weft for 18”
100$ per weft for 22”
My initial install per row is 150$
My move up is 120$
The price of the wefts I include a gloss/tone or root smudge.
Jasmin I know charges more than me and we are 5 feet away from each other 😂
I think you just need to value your ability and your craft and be confident in your skills and find the pricing you feel works for you and your clients..
These prices have helped my already existing clients switch to newer better more expensive hairs (I was never originally up-charging for hair so this was a plus for me either way) and a better more comfortable method and install. They know these prices are only going to last while I work for the masters with IBE once I’m there I will increase everything accordingly.
You each deserve to get paid for your knowledge ❤️
