So Friday, our governor said we could go back to work Monday. When I started rebooking people, I didn’t even realize I now had 22 extension clients. Along with everyone else, I may not get to some clients until end of June or July. Of course, everyone wants in next week. I guess it’s time I start weeding out clients and start transitioning to extensions only. I love some of my regular clients so much, but how did you all do this that have done it? Wording?

I have done it before. Just prepare a nice email with kind words. Have recommendations of other stylists ready and the ones that are really close I would call personally. This could be a great opportunity bro maybe hire an assistant that could help you and eventually you can pass everyone to her. Super excited for you!!!
I havent transitioned yet but when I got rid of All my just haircut clients that didn’t do color I sent a text and told them I will validate their next appt with me so I saw them one more time in my chair and so they had a good 6 wks to get an appt with another stylists. They were all like did I do something wrong!!? It was so sad but I had done their hair for like 10-15 years. I think letting them come back for one more appt is the generous way to do it. With that said it wasn’t quarantine! But the thought of all those people getting in with a new stylist is going to be hard for them since everyone is booking their clients first before new clients. I’m always too nice! But if there is a way to maybe book your extension clients first then your colors then your cuts and give them one last appt with you that is what I would do. Still send the text out now. I have a copy of some texts if you want to see how I worded everything! Good luck! It is the right decision in the end! Easier days less clients in the chair each day. increased income and happiness with you family.
Yes I would love to see those.

Hi Becky, it’s Susan. Just wanted to give you a heads up about some changes that I am making inside of my business.
These changes are in effect immediately, but I am honoring any standing appointments that you have as of right now. I am trying to focus on color and extensions. I am no longer doing haircuts alone without color.
I appreciate you sooooo much I hope u know that! So you are good for oct 22nd but after that I will be not able to cut your hair anymore.
Maybe lease a spot and hire someone else to do them.
Raise your pricing a lot for the services you want to weed out
I did this in December and it was the best decision because I could focus on working less and making the same it did before. I have now cut back to less days a week and can spend more time with family.
I’m in the exact same position. Literally 22 extension clients lined up on top of all my color clients. I said the same thing as well. I think this may be the point where I need to just transition to extensions only OR just do my regular color clients...the ones who have been so loyal to me and have standings.....easy root touch ups, good Tippers...along with mainly hair extensions. It’s just so hard to make the call!!
