    Consultations

Hey guys! Wanting to see how you guys go about doing your consultations. I currently do free consultations where the client come to the salon for about 20 minutes and we talk about their hair wants and needs.... I see a lot of people use the Wufoo forms that connect to their Instagram accounts. I really would love to move that direction but it scares me to think that their will be more miscommunication since the don’t talk directly with me and I’m afraid I won’t be able to tell their true density. What has best helped you with your consultation? Just wanting some feedback to see what everyone likes and has been most beneficial!

I start out with a form that gives the basics. Most of the time they want to know pricing. I never give specific pricing I always give a range and say it all depends on what we actually end up doing. If they want a specific price I then can either schedule an in person consult or if they send me pics of their hair in the correct lighting then I can give more specific pricing. I find that this helps me to weed out the ones just wanting basic info saves me time. The ones who are serious I don’t mind giving my time too.

I also have a form they Can fill out but they don’t have to. It’s true that sometimes it is hard to judge their hair by a pic. So I still prefer to do an in person consult especially if they’re looking to stay w their current color.

I have a link on my socials and website with a form they have to fill out. It includes a questionnaire, a spot where they add photos of their hair and goal hair, and price ranges depending on length. After I receive that, I email them with a basic price quote range from what I can see. Then I have them set up and in studio consult. These take me about 20 min usually. I look at their hair, color match, take some photos, etc. I give them a better estimate of pricing at this time after I see their hair and what needs to be done. Then if they want to book, I take a $500 deposit at this time before ordering hair. This method has worked well for me! I like the form in the beginning, because I can weed out the ones that I don’t think would be a good fit for extensions, and they can see approximate pricing so if that’s more then they want to spend, then they just won’t fill it out ;)
